At the RCCGโs “Future Ready Accountant” Conference, our Group Managing Director, HRM Adaku Chidume-Okoro, delivered an inspiring session on the vast opportunities and challenges in Nigeriaโs agricultural commodities export sector.
She painted a vivid picture of Nigeria’s immense potential, highlighting how the country’s diverse climatic zones support the production of sought-after commodities like maize, cocoa, ginger, and hibiscus. The growing global demand for natural products has created a unique opportunity for Nigerian exporters to meet this need directly from the source.
However, the journey isnโt without its hurdles. Infrastructure constraints, quality compliance, and climate change pose significant challenges. Locally, issues like access to financing, modern farming techniques, and market linkages add complexity to the landscape.
Despite these challenges, she emphasized the sectorโs resilience and profitability. With government incentives such as tax exemptions, the Export Expansion Grant (EEG), and access to development funding, startups in this space have a real chance to thrive. By embracing technology, leveraging digital platforms, and participating in trade fairs, businesses can expand their reach and make meaningful impacts.
HRM Adaku concluded with a powerful reminder that agricultural exports not only yield foreign exchange earnings but also create jobs and contribute to national development. As the world shifts toward natural products, the time is ripe for Nigeria to take its place as a global agricultural powerhouse.
This session was an eye-opener, sparking conversations about innovation, strategy, and the future of non-oil exports in Nigeria. Stay tuned for more updates from this impactful event!
