On Thursday, May 16, 2024, the HBF Pilot Farm Project Team (TLO, AAO1, SCOI, PSTI, QCA, and our local guide Auwalu) visited Marini in Dambatta LGA, Kano State. The atmosphere was filled with anticipation and curiosity as the team continued their mission to tour the community’s farmlands and distribute HBF seeds as part of an ongoing initiative to foster goodwill & partnership.
The team received a warm welcome from Mr. Shuaibu, the LGA cooperative’s President, and the Mai-unguwa. After brief introductions, they toured three potential farmlands for HBF farming: Marini Dukawa, Marini Gari and Marini Gabas. Their guide assured them that Marini’s soil is ideal for HBF growth, with or without fertilizer.
Upon returning to the town square, the GACON Team were greeted by an eager gathering of Dambatta Co-operative GACON Farmers members. The excitement was palpable, as word of the visit had spread quickly. Even non-members showed keen interest in joining the Co-operative society.
Rebecca Anthony (SCOI) delivered a heartfelt speech, emphasizing GACONβs commitment to community support and knowledge-sharing for sustainable farming. Following her inspiring words, the Team distributed 5kg bags of HBF seeds and customized GACON Ltd Notebooks to Cooperative members. Each member stepped forward to receive their gift, symbolizing new beginnings and collaborative efforts.
The event concluded with smiles, bonding pictures, and a shared vision of a promising future.
The GACON Team expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome and valuable insights, promising to stay in touch and continue exploring further collaboration.
As the GACON Team bided the community farewell, they left behind not just seeds, but a promise of ongoing partnership and growth. ????????
